Four more cases of the Brazilian variant of Covid has been found in England and investigations are underway.
In South Gloucestershire three cases have been confirmed and they are all close or household contacts.
The fourth case was identified in Bradford, West Yorkshire after a person travelled from Brazil via Paris on Valentines’ Day and was later tested positive.
A Public Health England statement said, “Contact tracing teams have followed up close contacts of the individual and advised them to isolate and get a test.”
The Telegraph reported that genomic sequencing confirmed the cases are the p.1 Brazilian variant.
All close contacts have been contacted and advised to self-isolate and get a test. There are now 10 confirmed cases in the UK of the new variant, with three in Scotland and seven in England.
