Oscar winning actor Tom Hanks and his wife have both 63, have tested positive for coronavirus. Hanks has been in Australia filming the upcoming film, Elvis Presley biopic when he started experiencing symptoms.
Hanks said in a tweet, “To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus and were found to be positive.”
In a statement to Deadline, Warner Bros said: “We have been made aware that a company member from our Elvis feature film, which is currently in pre-production in The Gold Coast, Australia, has tested positive for Covid-19 [coronavirus].
“We are working closely with the appropriate Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the individual.
“The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world.”
On Wednesday Public Health England (PHE) has said the number of people across the UK with coronavirus has rose by 83 confirmed cases in 24 hours, totalling 456, with eight people dead.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has now categorised the deadly coronavirus outbreak as a global pandemic.
Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the WHO said, “WHO has been assessing this outbreak around the clock and we are deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity, and by the alarming levels of inaction.”
