French troops are “preparing for war” and are readying for possible deployment in Ukraine as they are training for a “high intensity scenario.”
In February the French President said that “Russia cannot win this war” and has refused to rule out sending troops to fight in Ukraine and hundreds of soldiers from the 92nd Infantry Regiment have been training for urban warfare.
Lieutenant Valentin, the combat section leader, told France Info that the unit are watching the events in Ukraine very closely and they are preparing to be deployed to Romania.
Lt. Valentin said, “We’re certainly keeping a close eye on what’s happening there.
“We can see that the fighting is actually taking place in the cities, so we’ve been training to work in urban areas for a while now.”

Colonel Stéphane Talleu, the regiment’s commander, said his troops have been training for a “high intensity scenario.”
The Colonel added, “Instead of facing an asymmetrical enemy, i.e. one with limited resources, we’re dealing with a more conventional enemy with resources that are closer to our own.
“This is exactly what we are seeing today in Ukraine.”
Pierre Schill, Chief of Staff of the French Army does not think that Emanuelle Macron means sending troops “into battle in the original sense of the term, on the front line.”
Macron warned allies that we are “approaching a moment in our Europe” and he urged allies “not to be a coward” as now is the time to step up to the mark in Ukraine.
Macron said that “all option are possible” in Ukraine.
Glen Grant, a former Lieutenant Colonel in the British Army, told the Express.co.uk, “I think what Macron is saying is that he will not accept Odesa being overrun.
“That’s his red line in the sand because if Odesa is overrun, then 20 percent of Ukraine’s GDP disappears down the tubes.
“At that point, Ukraine is really in deep trouble financially. It’s also in deep trouble because it just loses its whole shape and it becomes an internal island, as opposed to having a route out to the sea.”
Last month the director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin said that France does not care of the deaths of “ordinary French people.
He said, “The current leadership of the country (France) does not care about the deaths of ordinary French people or about the concerns of the generals. According to information coming to the Russian SVR, a contingent to be sent to Ukraine is already being prepared. Initially, it will include around 2,000 troops.”
The Russian foreign intelligence chief, said the French military “fears that such a large military unit cannot be transferred and stationed in Ukraine unnoticed.
It will thus become a legitimate priority target for attacks by the Russian armed forces. This means that it will suffer the fate of all the French who have ever come to the Russian world with a sword.”
