The shutters have been lifted across high streets as all non-essential shops reopen for the first time in three months.

Hundreds of shoppers have been queuing up outside Primark on Monday morning in England and Northern Ireland.

Primark have reopened 153 stores across England and the retailer are maintaining social distancing in their stores, with shopping basket handles being cleaned and hand sanitiser being issued.

Paul Scully Small Business Minister has encouraged shoppers to out be sensible to help restarting “our economy carefully.”

He told BBC Breakfast on Monday, “The high street is going to be a different place to what it was before, with the one-way systems, with the hand sanitisers, and with people not trying clothes on in the same way.

“But, nonetheless, it is safe to shop. I would encourage people to be sensible, work with the people in the shop but do go out and shop, and start opening our economy gradually and carefully.”
