Hong Kong announces first coronavirus death

A 39-year old victim who was suffering from coronavirus after visiting Wuhan in China in January has died in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong has 15 confirmed coronavirus cases and Carrie Lam the territory’s leader has closed 10 out 13 land and sea border crossings with mainland China.

To date this is the second confirmed coronavirus death outside of China, where the death toll has risen to 425 with over 20,000 confirmed cases.

Chinese scientists have said they have evidence the virus most likely originated from bats.
