Investor Steve Eisman who correctly predicted the 2008 financial meltdown is reportedly betting that the share price of three UK banks is going fall – because of their exposure to the UK economy.
“I put these position on about a month and a half ago, my view back then was simply that it was possible that there could be a Brexit and or Jeremy Corbyn could become Prime Minister of the UK.
“I’ve added a third position because it seems more likely now, that Theresa May’s proposals will fail,” Eisman added.
He even features as a character in the film about the financial crisis, the Big Short, played by Steve Carrell (pictured).
He wouldn’t say which banks were most vulnerable. He says it doesn’t matter which ones – it’s an issue for the whole UK industry.
