Berlin urged to call up thousands of reservists as an ‘attack against us has already begun’

A defence expert and German MP Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, has urged the government to call on Berlin to round up 900,000 reservists warning that Vladimir Putin’s attack “against us has already begun.”

Strack-Zimmermann who is the chair of the Defence Committee at the Bundestag said the Kremlin is on a war footing and Germany must prepare now against Putin’s threats.

The MP of the liberal FDP party told Funke Media Group, “Putin is preparing his people for war and positioning them against the West. We must therefore become capable of defending ourselves as quickly as possible.”

She added/, “If we could recruit just half of them with their corresponding expertise as reservists, that would be an incredible asset.”

The MP said that her country has around “900,000 reservists” and she warned an attack by Russia “has already begun” against Germany.

Russia has started hybrid warfare and cyber attacks amongst other things on European countries.
