The first ever strike by workers at Tetley’s has sparked fears of a tea shortage.
Almost 150 GMB members working at Tata Consumer Products, which makes Tetley Tea in Teesside, voted to walk out in anger at “poverty pay.”
After Tetley Tea Workers took their first ever strike action, industrial action will continue on Monday.
GMB members working for Tata Consumer Products at Teesside are taking action over poverty pay.
Paul Clark, GMB Organiser, said, “Despite Tetley attempting to bully these workers into submission they walked out on Friday.
“This Monday we’ll be out on the picket line from dawn to dusk again, making it clear that we won’t tolerate poverty pay.
“It’s a disgrace that these workers are so low paid that there’s an onsite food bank at this multi million pound company.
“If Tetley’s want teabags on the shelf this autumn they must get back round the negotiating table”
