The Prime Minister has sacked Suella Braverman as the Home Secretary after she criticised the way the pro-Palestinian protests were being policed in an unauthorised article.

Rish Sunak is undertaking a Cabinet reshuffle in an attempt to strengthen his team within the government โ€œto deliver long-term decisions for a brighter future,โ€ which comes as Sunak is trying to unite the party behind him ahead of the general election.

A Downing Street source said that Sunak โ€œasked Suella Braverman to leave Government and she has accepted.โ€

Braverman said, โ€œIt has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve as home secretary.โ€

Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey said, โ€œSuella Braverman was never fit to be Home Secretary. Rishi Sunak knew this and he still appointed her.

โ€œIt was the Prime Ministerโ€™s sheer cowardice that kept her in the job even for this long. We are witnessing a broken party and a broken Government, both of which are breaking this country.โ€

Moments before the Prime Minister sacked Braverman he told LBC Radio that they have been โ€œvery clear she has his confidence and, in that sense, one would imagine that she will continue.โ€
