North Korea has stepped up their missile testing over the past few weeks and launched a missile which flew over Japan this week in response to the US led naval drills being held close to Kim Jong Un’s country.
This was the first time Pyongyang launched an intermediate range missile over Japan in five years which sparked air raid sirens in the northerly island of Hokkaido and the north-eastern Aomori prefecture.
In the last 12 days North Korea has launched missiles and last night they launched their sixth towards South Korea’s eastern waters.
This is apparently in reaction to the US Navy drill and two short range ballistic missiles were also fired out at sea as allied warships along with a US aircraft carrier were simulating drills.
In response the US aircraft carrier the USS Ronald Reagan was sent to the waters off the Korean peninsula and the Unite Nations Security Council are to hold a meeting.
