EY has appointed Stuart Sinclair as a partner in its expanding International Tax and Transaction Services practice, where he will focus on building out the Financial Services Credit Fund and Restructuring team. Prior to joining EY, Stuart was a tax partner at US law firm Akin Gump.

Stuart brings with him a wealth of experience across a broad range of practice areas. Specifically, he has advised some of the largest global credit funds on fund formations and supported the structuring of numerous complex cross-border transactions.

EY’s Financial Services International Tax and Transaction Services practice is focused on providing high quality, commercially insightful international and transaction-related tax advice to financial services clients across the EMEIA region. The team consists of over 300 tax professionals, led by 20 partners.

Mark Boyle, EMEIA Financial Services International Tax and Transaction Services Leader at EY, comments: “Stuart is a key hire for EY, and his arrival is a further boost to our leading Financial Services Tax practice. We are committed to building a best-in-class team that advises and supports financial institutions as they navigate the increasingly complex global tax and regulatory environment. Stuart’s expertise in credit funds will be particularly crucial as this segment of the market continues to see accelerated growth in an ever-changing international landscape.”

Stuart comments: “I am thrilled to join the EY partnership and look forward to working with such a high performing international tax team. EY’s ambitions are strong, which matches the market demand, notably in the credit fund space, where firms are reporting growth, whilst facing legislative change headwinds.”

Angela Dawes, UK Financial Services Tax Leader at EY, concludes: “Our UK financial services tax practice is in serious growth mode, and this year has had its largest ever intake of partners and associate partners. We look to the new financial year with renewed energy and strength and are delighted to now count Stuart as one of our leading financial services tax specialists within the team.”
