The wearing of face masks will now be mandatory for all secondary school children whilst in the classroom from 8 March, when they return.
All secondary year pupils will also have to wear face coverings in all corridors as well as at their desks, ITV News has reported.
Outdoor after school sports and activities will also restart on 8 March the Prime Minister will say in his speech.
However, there are concerns over children going back to school on 8 March, and for all children throughout the country going back at the same time.
Regional director of public health at South East England Dr Mike Gill told Sky News that Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of lockdown seems steady.
But his concerns are “that is not steady is putting all kids back throughout the country or at the same time.”
He added, “We are definitely an outlier both within the UK and across the world.
“I think in going for the big bang, it’s important to consider the wisdom of that when you’ve got such huge variation in the amount of transmission that’s going on across the country at the moment.
“Maybe it will all come magically down by 8 March.”
