Billionaire owner of the online retail clothing giant Asos has lost three of his four children in the deadly terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka, a spokesman has said.

Anders Holch Povlsen, 46, who is Denmark’s wealthiest businessman and estimated to be worth more than £6bn, is also thought to be Scotland’s largest landowner.

Jesper Stubkier, communications manager for Holch Povlsen’s business, said the couple had sadly lost three children in the Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka.

Stubkier told the Press Association on Monday, “I can confirm that three children have been killed.

“We have no further comment and we ask that the family’s privacy is respected at this time.”

He declined to give any further information as to the identity of the children, and in which of the series of the horrific bomb blasts they were caught up in.

Sri Lankan officials said on Monday the suicide bombing attacks had support from an international network, and the government is blaming National Thowheed Jamath who are a local jihadist group.
