Asda’s sales have continued to grow during the fourth quarter, as the supermarket giant waits to start the proposed merger with Sainsbury’s.
Net sales rose by 2.7% and like-for-like sales were up 1% which was Asda’s seventh consecutive quarter of growth.

“Whilst I am pleased with our performance in 2018, we must remain focused on ensuring the long-term sustainable success of Asda for our customers.”
Asda and Sainsbury’s are still awaiting the provisional findings from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) of their inquiry into the proposed merger.
CMA are yet to publish their provisional decision, which was extended to the end of April.
