Theresa May faced another blow this morning after Scott Mann, parliamentary private secretary at the Treasury and MP for North Cornwall, handed in his resignation over the PM’s Brexit plan.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, he said: “I fear that elements of the Brexit white paper will inevitably put me into direct conflict with the views expressed by a large section of my constituents.
“I am not prepared to compromise their wishes to deliver a watered down Brexit.”
Mann’s resignation comes after senior politicians including Boris Johnson and David Davis resigned over May’s Brexit plan revealed at Chequers.
It is with a great deal of sadness that I have tendered my resignation as a Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Treasury. pic.twitter.com/b052Nj0PxK
