Amber Rudd will not stand at next general election

The former home secretary Amber Rudd has revealed she will stand as a candidate at up coming general election on 12 December.

She will no longer be an MP, but Rudd is not โ€œfinished with politicsโ€ and wants Boris Johnson to succeed.

Rudd told the Evening Standard, โ€œI spoke to the Prime Minister and had a good meeting with him a few days ago. Iโ€™m really confident of my position.

โ€œI will be leaving the House of Commons on perfectly good terms with the Prime Minister and I want him to succeed.

โ€œIโ€™m not finished with politics, Iโ€™m just not standing at this election.โ€
