Plaid Cymru MP Jonathan Edwards has had the whip withdrawn by the political party after he was arrested on suspicion of assault.
Edwards was arrested on 20 May by Dyfed-Powys Police and was released on bail following an investigation.
Plaid Cymru confirmed the whip was withdrawn, and will sit as an independent until the whip is restored.
Edwards who represented Carmarthen East and Dinefwr since 2010 is also a well-known Remainer as he said, Brexit would disastrous for Wales.
The Welsh political part said in a statement said, “The party whip has been withdrawn pending the conclusion of a police investigation.
“Mr Edwards has accepted this course of action and is complying fully with the police enquiries.
“It would be inappropriate for the party to comment further at this time.”
