Ukrainian forces ‘struggling to hold positions’ as Putin’s army makes advances

21st Mar 24 1:37 pm

Vladimir Putin’s troops are making slow advances as Ukrainian troops are running out of ammunition and are therefore “struggling to hold positions.”

Russian advances have likely slowed as Putin’s forces suffered “heavy losses” during the battle for Avdiivka.

The British Ministry of Defence in said in their latest intelligence update, “Russian forces continue to focus operations in Donetsk Oblast (province), eastern Ukraine, making minor gains.

“They have attempted to expand areas of control north-west of Donetsk city and are highly likely contesting a string of villages including Orlivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske.

“Russian advances have slowed in recent weeks, likely partially due to heavy losses sustained in the Avdiivka campaign.

“The situation remains unstable, with Ukrainian shortages of personnel and munitions likely limiting their ability to hold positions.”

Overnight the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv came under attack as more than 30 Russian missiles came raining down.

Putin vowed he would take direct action against Ukraine for the escalating attacks and fighting on Russia’s borders.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday, “Such terror continues every day and night.

“It is possible to put an end to it through global unity… Russian terrorists do not have missiles capable of bypassing Patriot and other leading world systems.

Speaking to our journalist Mark Channer, a resident spoke of the sheer terror they experienced as they fled to an air raid shelter for safety.

He described the experience of buildings shaking and feeling the “air pressure changing” as explosions rung out around them.

“Shit loads Kyiv patriot air defence missiles into air surrounding us.

“They attacking factory not far away. But everyone stays calm prepared sitting waiting to be over go back bed.”

He then made reference to his partner and said that this was the “first time” he saw her really shaking “shaking” and then she “asked go to underground shelter in middle of night.”
