Trump prepares to hit Putin’s allies with harsh financial penalties

The US President has warned that three countries who continue to buy oil from Vladimir Putin will be hit with damaging financial legislation as Donald Trump it “tired” of Russia’s game.

This comes after Washington hit Russia’s two major oil and gas companies with severe financial secondary sanctions on Lukoil and Rosneft.

Russia generates around a quarter of their revenues from oil and gas exports which is “blood money” to finance his war in Ukraine.

Washington’s move is to put more pressure on Putin to come to the table and negotiate, something that they say they are prepared to do, but then make unreasonable demands which Kyiv is rejecting, such as wanting all of the Donetsk region.

Putin is convinced he can win the war and capture territory, however so far, he has failed to capture entire regions but claims they now belong to the Russian Federation.

US President told reporters, “Well I hear they are doing that and that’s okay with me.

“They are passing legislation, the Republicans are, they are putting in legislation that is very tough. It’s sanctioning etc etc on any country doing business with Russia.

“They may add Iran to that.. I suggested it. So any country that does business with Russia will be very severely sanctioned.”

For many months US Senators have been working on a series of strict sanctions which could see tariffs of 500% slapped on any country who is buying Russian oil or gas.

Countries such as China, India and Brazil are facing big consequences as they are the largest buyers of Russian oil and gas exports.

Senator Lindsey Graham told Fox News in July, “Here’s what I would tell China, India and Brazil.

If you keep buying cheap Russian oil to allow this war to continue, we’re going to tear up the hell out of you, and we’re going to crush your economy.

“He’s (Putin) not going to stop until somebody makes him stop. You’re buying cheap Russian oil at the expense of the world, and President Trump is tired of this game.”
