Donald Trump has declared the ceasefire with Iran dead after the US launched a major military response against Tehran, branding the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps “scum” and warning negotiations are now a “waste of time”.

Speaking after the strikes, Mr Trump said: “They are scum, as far as I’m concerned it’s over.”
He added: “They’re sick. There’s something wrong with them. We hit them very hard last night.”
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces carried out “offensive” strikes using precision weapons against Iranian air defences, command networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities and more than 60 IRGC fast attack boats.
The operation was aimed at reducing Iran’s ability to threaten international shipping through the vital Strait of Hormuz.
Hours later, Iran’s IRGC claimed it had launched attacks against 85 US military targets across the region, including bases in Bahrain and Kuwait.
Tehran also claimed it had shot down a US MQ-9 drone, though the claim has not been independently verified.
The latest escalation follows claims from Washington that Iran breached the ceasefire by attacking three commercial ships — the Al Rekayyat, Wedyan and Cyprus Prosperity.
Iran has rejected the accusation, instead blaming the US for violating the agreement and increasing pressure through sanctions and military threats.
Mr Trump said the US response was far stronger than Iran’s attacks.

The dramatic collapse of the ceasefire has raised fears of a wider Middle East conflict, with the Strait of Hormuz once again at the centre of a dangerous confrontation between Washington and Tehran.
