At Downing Streets daily press briefing, the UK’s top medical expert for Ear, Nose and Throat consultants, told Sky News there are new signs for detecting coronavirus.
The British Association of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT UK) say asymptomatic patients that have no cough or fever but do have coronavirus could have loss of smell and taste.
They said in a statement, “Evidence from other countries that the entry point for the coronavirus is often in the eyes, nose and throat areas.
“We have also identified a new symptom [loss of sense of smell and taste] that may mean that people without other symptoms but with just the loss of this sense may have to self-isolate, again to reduce the spread of the virus.”
“A leading ENT expert, Dr Kumar, has revealed new symptoms for the COVID019, which include a loss of smell or taste.
“Two of his senior colleagues have developed these symptoms and are on ventilators. Are you aware of this? What action are you taking to protect medics from these symptoms?” he told Sky News.
The ENT specialists “most likely” contracted coronavirus from those that showed no symptoms.
Professor Nirmal Kumar consultant otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon said the nose is the main entry point for coronavirus as breathe in the infected droplets.
He said, “In young patients, they do not have any significant symptoms such as the cough and fever, but they may have just the loss of sense of smell and taste, which suggests that these viruses are lodging in the nose.”
He downplayed the new symptoms, he said, “Like many viruses that give infections of the upper respiratory tract, there are a range of symptoms.
Scientists at the leading Cold War bio lab are aiming to have two vaccines for the deadly coronavirus ready for production by June.
They have sensationally spoke out and said the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan was due to the scientists researching bat diseases and could be responsible.
A scientist told how a sick bat attacked the researchers and bled on them and urinated on another, they were then forced to quarantine themselves for 14 days.
The report describes how “the killer coronavirus probably originated from a laboratory in Wuhan.”
