British transport group National Express has reported a 5.2% rise in pre-tax profits to £187m for 2019, up from £177.7m in 2018.

National Express said that all of its businesses delivered organic growth and that it was now carrying “significantly more passengers”.

The bus and coach operator said that it was now the largest urban bus operator in Morocco, and that its acquisition of US corporate shuttle bus provider WeDriveU had boosted revenues by over 30%.

National Express added that it was committed to not buying any more diesel buses in the UK, and that it aimed for its UK bus business to become zero emission by 2030, with its coach business following in 2035.
