The eyes are one of the most complex organs in the human body. Many organs, not just the eyes, must work together to produce a clear vision. For your eyes to produce a clear vision, the light should focus directly on the retina. The most common vision problems are refractory errors, commonly known as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia. Refractive errors occur when the shape of the eye prevents light from focusing on the retina directly. The length of the eyeball, the shape of the cornea, aging of the lens etc. are the main reasons for such errors.

Nearsightedness, alternatively known as shortsightedness or myopia, is a condition where a person has problems focusing and seeing far-away objects, thus appearing blurry. The affected person doesn’t have any problem with seeing objects near them. The eyeball is elongated as a result of which light focuses in front of the retina instead of focusing directly on the retina.

Hyperopia or farsightedness is a condition where a person experiences difficulties in see objects near them, with no problems seeing far-away objects. The eyeball is shortened as a result of which light focuses behind the retina instead of focusing directly on the retina.

In astigmatism, the eye does not focus light evenly on the retina. The uneven focus of light causes blurry vision which needs correction.

Unlike the above, presbyopia mainly occurs with age when the ability to focus light directly on the retina is reduced, thus causing vision problems. The elasticity of the yes reduce with age, thus focusing becomes a problem. It is a normal aging process and is nothing to worry about.

In most cases, the main symptoms are eye strain from squinting, headaches and eye fatigue. In the case of presbyopia, glasses with bifocal lenses serve the purpose well. The remaining three conditions can be either cured by LASIK surgery or through glasses and contacts. Many prefer glasses and contacts since surgery is a comparatively costlier option.

Glasses have been here for a long time as the go-to remedy for vision correction. But there is still a stigma associated with wearing glasses. So many people turn towards contact lenses these days. Though contact lenses had been invented in the early 1500s by Leonardo da Vinci, they became a popular alternative in the 1980s.

Lenses have become more comfortable to wear nowadays as a result of the introduction of softgel lenses. Even gas permeable lenses are available which come with the comfort of oxygen contact to the surface of the cornea. They come in different variants that help different cases of vision correction sufficiently. For example, Gas Permeable lenses are especially helpful in the case of astigmatism. It is important to get your lenses with a valid prescription and from a verified lens manufacturer like solotica lenses. By getting coloured contacts, you can even spice up your looks. If you are someone who likes a natural look, solotica natural colors is a range that you definitely check out. Lenses are a personal preference. You should definitely get what matches your personality and be confident with it.
