Guernsey police have said there is hope that Cardiff City striker Emiliano Sala and his pilot, may have used a life raft that was on board the missing plane.
A major search and rescue were resumed Wednesday morning, two aircraft are scouring the area over the channel and coastal areas around Alderney.
Guernsey police said the chances of any survivors are “slim,” but they are prioritising the theory the pair used a life raft that was on board the Piper-46 Malibu light aircraft.
A spokesperson said, “Our search area is prioritised on the life raft option.”
It has been reported that the pilot struggled to get the plane airborne during take off from Nantes, Sala had called and messaged friends using WhatsApp. He said, “So it looks like I’m here on a plane that’s about to fall apart.
“If in an hour and a half there is no news of me, I don’t know if they’ll send anyone to look for me because you won’t find me, but you’ll know… I’m so scared!”
