Four police officers killed in Paris knife attack at headquarters

A man wielding a knife has killed four police officers in Paris at the central police headquarters, the attacker was shot dead and is said to be a member of staff.

The attack took place around 1pm local time in the courtyard of the headquarters which is close to the Notre Dame in Paris.

Following the attack, the French prime minister Edouard Philippe and interior minister Christophe Castaner have attended the scene.

The Cite Metro station was shut down for security reasons, which is close to the police headquarters.
