Nigel Farage has rocked British politics by naming former Tory minister Robert Jenrick as Chancellor for his newly energised Reform Party.

“This is a government-in-waiting team,” Farage told reporters. “Robert brings experience, energy, and the know-how to fix Britain’s finances.”

The announcement has sent shockwaves through Westminster, with political insiders warning that Farage’s party could now pose a serious challenge to both Conservatives and Labour.

Jenrick, once a key figure in Boris Johnson’s cabinet, now faces the task of shaping Reform’s economic vision and tackling soaring taxes, inflation, and public spending promises.

A senior political commentator said, “This is Farage stepping off the sidelines. By bringing in Jenrick, he’s making Reform a party that can actually govern. Westminster should be very nervous.”

The move is seen as Farage signalling he’s no longer just a protest voice, but a credible alternative to the establishment. Party insiders hint that more high-profile appointments are coming as Reform gears up for a fight at the ballot box.

“We’re ready to shake up the system,” Farage added. “It’s time for real reform.”

Robert Jenrick warned that Rachel Reeves is a wrecking ball, and he thanked Farage for the opportunity “to oppose” Reeves.

Jenrick said, “Nigel, thank you for giving me the opportunity to oppose the wrecking ball that is Rachel Reeves and this Labour Government.”

He added, “Above all, thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak up, to be a voice for the millions of people who are being failed by this Labour Government.”

Jenrick said Reform will put together “the most comprehensive plan of any political party” to “fix Britain’s broken economy”.
