Up to 6,000 passengers plus 1,000 staff are stuck on board the Costa Smeralda cruise ship over fears two Chinese nationals are carrying coronavirus.

After showing symptoms of the deadly virus the couple from China have been reportedly placed in isolation.

The cruise ship left Palma de Mallorca and is currently docked in Civitavecchia, north-west of Rome

Italian media have reported the authorities are fearing if the Chinese couple are tested positive then hundreds on board the cruise ship could have been exposed to coronavirus.
