The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has said cannabis extract cannabidiol or CBD, could be “taken off the shelves” within a year if products are not registered by March 2021.
The FSA has issued new advice on taking or using CBD that it should be used along side medication the person is currently taking.
There are raised safety concerns as not one CBD product has been approved in the UK, however, the FSA has been accused of dragging their feet as regulating the market only started in January 2019.
Emily Miles from the FSA said, “The CBD industry must provide more information about the safety and contents of these products to the regulator by March 2021, or the products will be taken off the shelves.”
