British Airways (BA) has extended flight cancellations to and from China from two days until the end of February over government coronavirus travel advice.

Flights connecting Heathrow with Beijing and Shanghai are suspended over the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) warning against “all but essential travel” to mainland China.

A BA spokesman said, “We are contacting customers on cancelled flights so we can discuss their travel options, including re-booking on to other carriers where possible, full refunds, or booking with BA for a later date of travel.

“Customers can also find the latest information and options on BA.com.

“Safety is at the heart of everything we do and we will keep the situation under review.”

The death toll has risen to 170 people and, as of 29 January there were 7,711 confirmed cases in China and this number is rising.
