The delay to Sue Gray’s report may have bought Boris Johnson more time in office, but the Prime Minister is already being backed to go in February at 4/1 on Betfair Exchange.

Johnson was as high as 53% to resign in January on the Betfair Barometer, but now his chances of going by the start of next week are 2%.

The Chancellor Rishi Sunak remains the strong favourite at 2/1 to replace Johnson as the next Conservative leader, while Liz Truss is 7/1 and Jeremy Hunt is 8/1.

Betfair Exchange – Next Conservative leader after Boris Johnson

Rishi Sunak 2/1

Liz Truss 7/1

Jeremy Hunt 8/1

Tom Tugendhat 13/1

Penny Mordaunt 15/1

Sajid Javid: 20/1

Michael Gove: 23/1

Dominic Raab 33/1

Betfair Exchange spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said, “The delay to Sue Gray publishing her report may have bought Boris Johnson some more time in office, but Betfair Exchange punters are already backing him at 4/1 to resign in February.

“The PM survived throughout January despite being as high as 53% to go on the Betfair Barometer when he was odds-on at 5/6 to resign, but now he has just a 2% chance of leaving before the end of this month.

“Punters on Betfair Exchange are backing Rishi Sunak to pick up after the PM and he’s the clear 2/1 favourite to replace him, ahead of Liz Truss who is next at 7/1 and Jeremy Hunt is 8/1.”
