Retail experts have predicted that this could be the biggest Black Friday yet as shoppers are expected to spend nearly £9bn.

Early spending data shows that people have spent more this year than previous years as shoppers will be spending more this Christmas.

From midnight to 9am on Friday morning Barclaycard said their credit card data showed a 5.4% increase on spending compared to 2019 with a rise of 2.4% against 2020.

PWC analysts forecast that around £8.7bn will be spent this Black Friday which is up from £7.8bn in 2019.

The British Independent Retailers Association (Bira) said that the majority of their members will not be cutting prices, according to their latest survey.

PWC research shows that men plan on spending £338 on average, whilst women will spend an average of £210 this Black Friday.
