Staff who work for the discount food store Aldi are set to receive a pay increase by just over 3%. The minimum hourly rates will rise from £9.10 to £9.40 per hour, and workers who are inside the M25 will see an hourly pay rise from £10.55 to £10.90.
Staff who have worked for Aldi for three year or more are to receive a pay increase to £10.41 and those who work in London are set to receive £11.15 per hour.
The new hourly pay rates far exceed the recommended pay rates by the Living Wage Foundation’s, on top of this workers are also paid for their breaks.
Giles Hurley, chief executive of Aldi UK said, “We have the most efficient and productive workforce, and this is why they earn the highest rates of pay in the grocery sector.”
