Jacob Rees-Mogg was told to “sit up” and was accused of looking “bored” by Caroline Lucas the leader of the Green Party.

During a heated showdown in parliament on Tuesday evening Lucas said, “There’s been a lot of talk about democracy tonight. And the Leader of the House, who I have to say with his body language throughout this evening has been so contemptuous of this House and the people.

“And for the benefit of hindsight, the Leader of the House has been spreading across around three seats lying out as if that was something very boring for him to listen to tonight.”

Labour MP Toby Perkins wrote on Twitter, “Just go to your work tomorrow and during a crucial meeting sit like this when someone is speaking and see what happens.

“If it ends badly just regret the fact that you weren’t born to rule and far too important to listen to anyone else’s view.”

Anna Turley, Labour MP said on Twitter, “The physical embodiment of arrogance, entitlement, disrespect and contempt for our parliament.”
