New data shows that the UK has recorded 12,872 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total UK cases to 480,017.
This comes as 264,979 tests were undertaken, and the previous day there was 255,915 tests carried out, which recorded 6,968.
Saturday’s figures are nearly double of the previous highest figures of 29 September which was 7,143 as 227,038 tests were carried out.
Due to a technical issue there was a delay in reporting the number of cases, which means that there will additional virus cases to be added over the coming days from the period between 24 September and 1 October.
