The Supreme Court has unanimously ruled that Boris Johnson’s advice to the HM Queen was unlawful to prorogue parliament for five weeks.

Lady Hale the president of the Supreme Court announced on Tuesday morning that the 11 justices ruled unanimously that the Queen was given unlawful advice by the prime minister and the privy council.

Lady Hale said there was “no explanation before the court of why it was necessary to suspend parliament for five weeks.”

She added, “We are bound to conclude that the decision was unlawful.”
