In March Russia agree a deal with Iran to buy Russian Su-35 fighter jets as Tehran’s warplanes are mostly 1970s era US jets.

Prior to the 1979 Islamic revolution the US sent the F-4 Phantom and F-5 Tiger, as well as old F-14 Tomcats and the Iran has a number of old Chinese jets based on the Russian MiG-21, and 1980s-era MiG-21 fighters.

On Tuesday Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi had on display submarines, helicopters and fighter jets during the Army Day celebrations where he made public threats against Israel.

A Russian Su-35 fighter jet has been seen in Tehran which Vladimir Putin promised Iran in March which was flying into the Iranian Air Force base Mehrabad.

The SU-35 fighter jet has been heavily used in Ukraine and in total Iran are to receive 24 of the Russian warplanes which will be stored in an underground airbase.

The Iranian President said, “Enemies, particularly the Zionist regime, have received the message that any tiny action against (our) country will prompt a harsh answer from the armed forces, which will accompany the destruction of Haifa and Tel Aviv.”

Iran has been providing Russian with as many as 2,400 Shahed suicide drones, but despite Tehran indicating they have sent them to Moscow, Russia denies using them in Ukraine.

Ties between Putin and the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have grown closer since Russia launched their full scale war in Ukraine in the face of Western pressure over Kyiv.
