The high street baker Greggs are celebrating an “exceptional year” after their launch of the vegan sausage roll and are to share £7m payout with their staff.
After the launch of the vegan sausage roll in January 2019, in the 26 weeks to 29 June 2019 profits rose by more than 53% to £36.7m.
Greggs chief executive Roger Whiteside said, “We delivered a strong finish to what has been an exceptional year for Greggs.
“The major investments we have made in recent years to make Greggs an attractive choice in the food-on-the-go market are delivering.”
Adding, I am delighted to announce that we will also be making a special additional payment to all of our colleagues across the business who have worked so hard to deliver this success in what has been a phenomenal year.”
Last week Greggs launched a new vegan stake bake to add to the vegan range.
Whiteside said last week, “Our vegan sausage roll launch was a huge success and we’ve been working tirelessly to expand our vegan friendly offering and provide more delicious savoury food on-the-go options for people looking to reduce their meat intake.
“The launch of our vegan steak bake is another key milestone on our journey to become our customers’ favourite for food-on-the-go. We look forward to hearing the feedback.”
