The Italian coastguard has identified the five bodies recovered from the superyacht that sunk on Monday.
Tech billionaire Mike Lynch has been confirmed to be amongst the dead including lawyer Christopher Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo, Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judith Bloomer.
However, Mike Lynch’s daughter Hannah Lynch, 18, has still not been found, and a family friend said “we were all hoping for a miracle.”
A friend of Mike Lynch, Brent Hoberman told Sky News, “We were all hoping for a miracle – we knew it was unlikely but you still hold out hope.
“It’s just so unbelievably tragic for him to go through what he went through over the last 12 years, defending his name and not really living a full life, to now for his death to be confirmed is obviously incredibly sad.”
On Monday morning a violent storm which led to a water tornado capsized the yacht which then sunk 50 metres to the bottom of the sea.
Shortly after the yacht sunk the chef, Recaldo Thomas was found and according to the Italian newspaper la Repubblica the bodies were found behind two mattresses in the hull of the vessel.
