So you never have to stop raising a glass to the new year

If the end of the party season has left your social calendar looking distinctly lacking then do not despair.

Let the fun continue instead with a visit to one of the hot new bars opening in 2014.

Offering stylish new concepts and delicious food served alongside your drink, they offer you the perfect excuse to get your glad rags back out from the back of the wardrobe.

These are hot off the press so keep checking the website for more listings as we get them.

1. The Fable, 52 Holborn Viaduct, London

If your Christmas didn’t involve playing with at least one Christmas toy and you’re feeling you missed out then this new fairy-tale themed bar will give you a chance to indulge the kid in you – grown up style.

The Fable is a three-story bar and restaurant due to open in suited and booted Holborn in February that promises a magical escape from the rat race.

Previously a 15th century dwelling house, you can enjoy being transported back in time as you peruse the skinny cocktail menu and seasonal food offerings.

Expect Mulberry duck print chairs, vintage typewriters and fox head lights at this intriguing sounding bar, inspired by ‘the fables of Aesop’ and ‘spellbinding adventures around the globe’.

We think it’s the perfect antidote after a serious day in the office.

2. Duck and Rice, 90 Berwick Street, Soho, London

We’re excited at the news that the esteemed restaurateur Alan Yau has taken over the 4,500 sq.ft Endurance bar in Soho’s Berwick Street with plans to turn it into a Chinese gastro pub in early 2014.

The previously popular haunt will swap its staple comfort food offering of sausage and mash and burgers for great value Far-Eastern food adapted to Western tastes.

We can expect something different to the norm from Yau, who is also the founder of Hakkasan and launched the mega successful Wagamama chain among others.

Yau is keeping tight lipped about the exact food and drink offering but if his existing portfolio is anything to go by we can expect great tasting food in a relaxed environment.

Grab a group for drinks and nibbles at this pub with a difference.

3. Oslo, 1A Amhurst Road, Hackney, London

There’s an interesting story behind the latest bar and restaurant opening up in trendy east London in early 2014. Oslo bar is being built on the last remaining part of the original 1870 railway station.

All day food, an inventive drinks menu and live music from the coolest bands is the offer here making it a sure-fire hit for long and lazy lunches and late night get gatherings with friends.

Choose from a wide range of locally sourced craft beers, ales and spirits and if you like enjoy a locally sourced food dish to accompany your drink.

And with classic cockney dishes promised this is sure to be the ultimate East London retreat.
