Sarosh Zaiwalla, founder and senior partner of Zaiwalla and Co, who recently featured in GQ UK’s ‘100 Most Connected Men in 2016’ list, says immigration should be top priority for London’s next mayor.

He said: ‘’Migrants contribute over £25bn to the UK economy making them absolutely indispensable to London. That’s why I strongly believe that immigration should be top priority as we enter the final hours of London’s mayoral elections.

“London has cemented itself as one of the world’s most successful cities, and one of its most multicultural, and that is no coincidence. A central concern when debating migration in the UK is the impact of immigrants on the UK’s tax and welfare systems but a look at the numbers quell these fears: immigrants are paying on average 64% more in taxes than they have received in benefits.

“It was in fact a report put together by the current Mayor of London that revealed that Asian immigrants in London are absolutely indispensable to the economy. The city is home to over 40,000 Asian owned businesses – that’s 14% of all London business. In March we saw the Chancellor present the budget and were all made aware of the precarious state of the UK’s economy at the moment; it would be wholly unwise to risk losing such an integral contribution to our capital city and its businesses,’’ Zaiwalla added
