Starling Bank to create 150 new jobs

The fast-growing challenger bank Starling are opening a new office in Southampton creating 150 new jobs.

The bank will employ 100 customer service employees and 50 software engineers., the move will support Starling’s growth ambitions.

Starling has raised £233m from investors to date and has half a million customers in the five-years the bank has been operating.

Last month the challenger bank won a £100m grant by the Royal Bank of Scotland, aimed at boosting competition within the banking sector.

Starling bank said they were attracted to Southampton because of its “growing and skilled jobs market, reputation as a burgeoning tech hub, transport links and easy access to London.”

Chief executive Anne Boden said: “We are growing so fast that we are rapidly running out of space in our London offices.

“What really attracts us to Southampton is its entrepreneurial spirit and its level of tech talent.

“We’re looking for new people, engineers as well as customer service team members to join us in Southampton now and will be expanding the office quickly.”
