Singapore DBS bank evacuated over coronavirus fears

After a person fell ill with coronavirus some 300 workers have been evacuated from Singapore’s largest bank, DBS on Wednesday.

The employee of the bank was tested on Tuesday and the results came back positive on Wednesday for the virus.

DBS provided workers with care packs which contains thermometers, hand sanitisers and masks.

In statement DBS said, “As a precautionary measure, all employees on the affected floor vacated the premises to work from home.”

The bank added, “during this difficult time, the bank will be providing this employee and his family with every support and guidance.

Singapore previously confirmed 47 cases in the country which is the highest number of people infected outside mainland China.

On Tuesday the the World Health Organization (WHO) announced the official name for coronavirus as Covid-19 and has now deemed the virus a “global emergency”

More than 1,100 people have now died in China and there are now over 44,000 cases confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
