Early signs show Islamic State is responsible for the attack
Over 35 people have been killed and 140 injured in a bomb attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk international airport.
According to media reports, three suicide bombers began shooting inside and outside the terminal late on Tuesday and blew themselves up after police fired shots at them.
Early signs show Islamic State is responsible for the attack, PM Binali Yildirim said yesterday.
Authorities say three men with Kalashnikov rifles attacked the airport, detonating suicide vests when confronted by police officers.
Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said the attack showed “the dark face of terror that targets innocent civilians”.
“This attack does not produce any results, it aims to produce propaganda against our country using the blood and pain of innocent people.”
A video posted on Twitter shows the moment one of the attackers detonated his suicide bomb.
