Between 10 and 16 October there was around 35,200 cases a day, and that 433,000 people are infected across England, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) weekly figures show.
Around 1 in 130 are estimated to have been infected over the last week, compared to last week there was 1 in 160, with 27,900 daily cases.
The ONS figures exclude hospitals and car homes and inly apply to private households.
The ONS said, “There has been growth in COVID-19 infection rates in all age groups over the past two weeks including those aged over 70-years, with the current rates highest in older teenagers and young adults.
“The highest COVID-19 infection rates continue to be seen in the North West, Yorkshire and The Humber, and the North East.”
