Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said, “Despite becoming the first former US president to be criminally charged, punters continue to back Donald Trump and odds on him winning the 2024 Republican nomination have been slashed to 8/11 from 4/5 overnight.

“The 76-year-old, who has denied all 34 charges of falsifying business records, is the favourite to win the Republican nomination, while Ron DeSantis, who had been fancied following his big midterms win in Florida, is following behind at 13/5.

“Looking at the 2024 election market, Joe Biden remains the 2/1 frontrunner to win another term, while Trump’s odds haven’t changed either, with the Republican hopeful 3/1 to return to The White House.”
