Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned an Amazon ad after 280 people complained to the advertising watchdog.
The ad had promised “One-day delivery for Christmas” to its Prime members. But most of the complainants did not receive their goods within one day of placing the order despite the claim.
The retailer insisted the ad “did not promise a particular speed of delivery of a particular product” and that “a customer’s later disappointment about the speed of a one-day delivery order should not render their marketing misleading”.
The watchdog has told Amazon that its ad must not ‘appear again in its current form’, and that the retail giant must “make clear that some Prime labelled items were not available to be delivered by the next day”.
