The Met Office has issued two rare amber alerts for Friday and Saturday, as Storm Arwen is to hit the UK with warnings that there could be “flying debris” and “delays to journeys.”
Storm Arwen could bring winds of up to 80 mph with large waves and “possible power cuts” which will mainly affect the east coast of Scotland and the northeast coast of England.
The Met Office has predicted that high winds from Storm Arwen will bring ice cold temperatures across the UK.
The Met Office’s Tom Morgan told the Mirror, “Not everyone will see snow, over the coming days it will be really cold petty much everywhere, especially after dark.
“But there is a concern and we have issued a weather warning for coastal areas with very strong winds predicted.
“People may want to consider their travel plans and ensure their garden furniture is tired down, because winds could reach 80MPH.”
