Cartwright & Butler, a specialty food and beverage provider, has recorded a period of record sales in the four weeks leading up to Christmas.
The brand reports that its sales and web traffic doubled in December, crediting the growth to an increase in consumer demand for premium food and beverage products.
British consumers enjoyed an indulgent Christmas, with Cartwright & Butler’s new seasonal biscuit, Spiced Orange & Cranberry Shortbread, selling almost 7,000 units. The shortbread, which required 84kg of cranberries to make, was the brand’s most popular seasonal product ever.
The Christmas Loaf Cake saw a 156% increase in units sold, generating more than £40,000 in revenue for the brand. Teas and coffees achieved a 31% growth, while demand for savoury biscuits grew by 63%.
The luxury food and beverage brand also saw a 40% increase in demand for luxury hampers, with the Pocklington Hamper Cartwright & Butler’s star performer. After being voted The Telegraph’s number one Christmas hamper of 2019, more than 1,000 units were sold, achieving an outstanding 155% growth.
In addition to consumer sales, the brand’s corporate gifting service, which offers bespoke gifts tailored for individual brands, has experienced a 55% growth in the last 12 months, which it attributes to partnerships with major industry players like Howdens, European Tour and Norgine.
The Christmas sales success follows research from Cartwright & Butler, which revealed that food and beverage products were the most sought after Christmas gift, in comparison with gift vouchers and technological items.
Nigel Arnett, National Sales Manager at Cartwright & Butler said, “Our outstanding trading performance is testament to the growing demand for quality products. Consumers are demanding more from their food and beverage products than ever before, favouring quality over quantity.
“Our company’s continuous growth comes purely from our commitment to using only the finest ingredients and our passion to make everyday moments special.
“We’re confident that our exciting plans will enable us to meet our ambitious growth targets for 2020, and we look forward to continuing to provide quality produce and an outstanding service to our customers.”
