Tesla billionaire Elon Musk is considering accepting dogecoin as payment for products at the electric car firm.
Musk today asked his Twitter followers whether they would like Tesla to accept dogecoin in future.
The proposal gained overwhelming support from Musk’s followers: within 10 minutes of posting a poll, some 400,000 people had voted. Almost 80 per cent of respondents had said yes.
Dogecoin has gained almost 10,000 per cent in 2021, but has at the same time often seen sharp drops in its price. The cryptocurrency hit an all-time high on Saturday but has gradually dropped in price. It is down 0.6 per cent over the last 24 hours.
