UK business confidence has increased for six consecutive quarters and is at its highest ever since a regular survey by ICAEW and Grant Thornton begun.
But their Business Confidence Monitor also suggested that export growth was lagging.
Their report also warned there were still concerns about the structure of the economy, as well as fears over skill shortages.
Michael Izza, chief executive of ICAEW, said: “The export figures are disappointing and show that the government’s strategy is not working.
“We would like to see an increase in export guarantees to match the scale that German companies benefit from.”
In brighter news, the survey showed that business investment had grown at its fastest rate since 2008.
